It's also a fundraiser with some great food and will be part of an effort to put together a fun cookbook of local recipes. (See attached flyer for more details)":

Public forum on Proposed Superintendency Union set for Tues., Feb. 9 at MGRHS

The Mountain Greylock Regional School District is hosting a public forum on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6 pm in the
Meeting Room to discuss the possible expansion of Union 71, the Superintendency Union that currently exists between WES and LES. All are welcome. This is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed union structure from the Feasibility Committee, comprised of members of each of the three school committees. It is also an opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns about the high school, the middle school, or the elementary schools in the context of the union. What kind of support do these schools need that they are not currently getting and are these needs best met by this expanded union?

A decision to join the Union or retain the current secondary school administrative structure will be made by vote of the School Committee members in March. They need to know your thoughts in order to best represent your views.

(Submitted by Carrie Greene, Feasibility Committee Chair, MGRHS School
Committee)

Creating a New School System
Feb 16 at 4:00 p.m., Bronfman 105

Steve Barr founded Green Dot Public Schools in Los Angeles in 1999 with the vision of transforming secondary education. His charter-school group is now California's largest by enrollment and one of its most successful. Green Dot schools take kids who arrive, in most cases, far below grade level and send nearly 80% of them to college. Green Dot's leadership in pushing for improved public education led the Los Angeles Times to name Barr as one of 100 most influential people in Southern California in 2006.
