Berkshire County jobless rate falls to 7.7%

PITTSFIELD -- Berkshire County's unemployment rate fell by more than half a percentage point to 7.7 percent in October, following a similar increase the month before.

The drop from 8.3 percent in September represents the biggest decrease in the local jobless rate since before the recession hit last fall, and it is the county's lowest rate since May.
