O'Connor seeks Williamstown selectmen action opposing Kinder Morgan pipeline after lawyer's talk

Williamstown resident and anti-pipeline activist Anne O'Connor advised that experienced environmental attorney and blog correspondent Mary Douglas spoke on the proposed Kinder Morgan natural-gas pipeline through Berkshire County. Her public talk was Thursday, Dec. 4 at Williams College.  Her talk was entitled:  "Pipeline Politics in the Berkshires: The Kinder Morgan Natural Gas Project."

After the talk, O'Connor reports: "Some friends and I have decided to ask our Board of Selectmen to issue a Resolution Opposing the Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Championing Sustainable Energy, in solidarity with the many Massachusetts towns that would be affected by the proposed Kinder-Morgan pipeline. This would be along the lines of the resolutions passed by Pittsfield, North Adams and even towns that are not directly affected, like Northampton." She continues: "To that end, we are gathering signatures to show the townspeople support such a resolution."

Mary Stewart Douglas is the Washington correspondent for the Berkshire Edge online daily newspaper.  She is an environmental lawyer who has worked at the Environmental Protection Agency, private firms, and, most recently, with an association representing the state and local administrators of the Clean Air Act.  Mary holds degrees from Smith College and Hastings College of the Law.The talk was organized by the Center for Environmental Studies at Williams.
