NEWS: Parent-teacher organization says it will disband at Mount Greylock RHS

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- An email announcment says the Mount Greylock Regional High School parent-teacher organization (PTO) has voted to disband.

"We wanted to inform you that, at last night's meeting of the MG PTO, it was voted to disband the Mt. Greylock Parent Teacher Organization, Inc.," said the email over the name of Odetta Klass, the PTO's co-president. It added: "The parents that were present at last night's meeting are going to hold another meeting on June 20 at 6 p.m. to discuss organizing and forming a new parent group. It may or may not be called the PTO."

Klass has served as co-president of the PTO for three years, two of those with Stephanie Santore as co-president.

"We wanted to personally thank the Mt. Greylock faculty, administration and staff for their support, encouragement and appreciation for the work, time, money and effort that has gone into all the work the PTO has done over the past three years. You guys have been open, attentive, and thoughtful and we want you to know that all of us who have been active in the PTO for the past 3 years greatly appreciate that."

The email added: "Greylock Cooks!, which is a separate entity that was birthed out of the PTO two years ago, will continue to exist as a separate entity, not unlike the Friends of the Arts. I will chair the Greylock Cooks! parent group.

"Greylock Cooks! will continue to support the monthly "Snack Attacks", where food and beverages are provided at the monthly all-faculty meetings. We will also continue to organize the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon each Spring and we will also continue our community building efforts through the glorious wonders of food!"

"As things are changing and evolving at Mt. Greylock, it stands to reason that our parent groups would change and evolve as well. These are exciting times and I look forward to continuing to serve the MGRSH community through Greylock Cooks!."
